Sarah Caré presented at the Child and the Book Conference in Tilburg, Netherlands

Sarah Caré presented her research on cultural representations in children’s nonfiction at the Child and the Book Conference at Tilburg University.
At the end of April, our colleague Sarah Caré took part in the Child and the Book Conference at Tilburg University in the Netherlands. In her presentation, Sarah explored how ordinariness and extraordinariness are portrayed across cultures in the Kids Around the World series, a Czech nonfiction picture book collection published by Albatros Media that has been translated into over 10 languages and sold worldwide.
During the conference, she also participated in the GROW Workshop for Exceptional and Everyday Scholars, hosted by Rosalyn Borst and Krzysztof Rybak, where early career researchers shared stories and characters of their own countries much in line with the topic of Sarah’s talk. Sarah was super excited about the nonfiction-related keynote lecture given by Louise Couceiro, who will be paying a brief visit to WONDRE this autumn, and she also took on the role of the conference’s cartoonist – watch this space for the cartoons!
