Anežka Kuzmičová

Anežka is WONDRE’s principal investigator. A winner of the Neuron Prize for Promising Scientists (2022), she has previously led a cross-faculty team (2020-2024) with WONDRE member Markéta Supa as key collaborator. Prior to that she completed a Ph.D. (2008–2013) and an extended postdoctoral period (2013–2019) at Stockholm University, Sweden. Since her Ph.D. studies she works across humanities and social science disciplines forging new, socially inclusive perspectives on reading as embodied and imaginative experience.
Markéta Supa

Markéta has worked with WONDRE PI Anežka Kuzmičová since 2020. She has led research projects on children and media, e.g., Multicultural Life and Education of Child Prosumers (2018–2021) and The Role of Online Media in Constructing, Negotiating, and Practising Children’s Active Citizenship (2021–2024). Prior to working at Charles University (2015–), she completed a Ph.D. (2011–2015) at Bournemouth University, UK. She specialises in child-centred and holistic approaches to research and practice.
Sarah Caré

Sarah is a postdoctoral researcher who joined WONDRE upon completing her Ph.D. studies at the University of Jaén, Spain (2021–2024). Her Ph.D. thesis focused on motherhood in contemporary British children’s literature and she has also published on gender stereotypes and dementia in children’s literature. Within WONDRE she primarily develops new analytical approaches to children’s nonfiction, adopting critical-cultural and childist perspectives.
Karolína Šimková

Karolína is a researcher with WONDRE and is currently completing her Ph.D. (2020–2026) in Media and Communication Studies at Charles University, where she also earned an M.A. in Journalism (2017–2020). Her dissertation examines media education in Czech schools, with a focus on digital and social media from the perspective of teachers. Within WONDRE, she investigates how children perceive peers elsewhere and how learning about others’ lives and realities helps them reflect on their own experiences and feelings.
Magdaléna Gorčíková

Magda is a postdoctoral researcher with WONDRE. Her work bridges sociology and psychology in the study of children’s literacy and family environments. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Charles University (2019) and an M.A. in Psychology from Masaryk University (2023). Having led longitudinal panel studies and developed screening tools for early literacy risks, her work within WONDRE explores how parents and children jointly construct meaning around information literacy within everyday interactions.
Martin Nekola

Martin is a sociologist specialised in advanced analysis techniques and the evaluation of public policies. Since 2022, he also serves as Vice-Dean for Digitalisation at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University. Within WONDRE, he will primarily contribute expertise in mixed-methods research design and analysis, e.g. Q methodology, which he has previously helped implement in projects run respectively by Anežka Kuzmičová on children and fiction and by Markéta Supa on youth activism.
Patricie Kyslíková

Patricie Kyslíková is our research assistant and a Ph.D. candidate (2026–) in Media and Communication Studies at Charles University. Her doctoral research explores how music and sound interact with the everyday media experiences of Roma children and young people. She holds an M.A. in Management of Social Work (2024–2026) from the University of South Bohemia. She has worked on several EU-funded projects, designing participatory and arts-based methods with young people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds. Within WONDRE, she supports mixed-methods research on children’s factual interests and how their parents perceive them.

Jan (Honza) is WONDRE’s administrative manager and works in a similar role for two other EU-funded projects, GAME-ER (2024–2027) and GAMEINDEX (2025–2030), also hosted by the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University.
