Visiting researcher: Marc Kudlowski

We welcome Marc Kudlowski, visiting from the University of Cologne, Germany, as a temporary member of our team. Marc’s research focuses on media didactics and reading motivation.
We are excited to welcome Marc Kudlowski from the University of Cologne, Germany, as an Erasmus+ visiting researcher in the first week of April. Marc’s work focuses on integrative reading and media didactics, with a special interest in how text-image narratives can enhance reading fluency and motivation. In his recent dissertation, soon to be published Open Access, he designed an inter-media pedagogy supporting children who face reading-related and socioeconomic challenges.
Currently, Marc is editing a special issue of Grundschule Deutsch on children’s media worlds, researching the role of film in literary-aesthetic processes, and preparing for a panel on medial and narrative liminality at the IRSCL 2025 conference. He is looking forward to a mutual exchange on our many shared research interests and wishes to learn specifically about Q methodology which our team have used in past work. He will also deliver a guest lecture at our institute on SciCom for Children in German Television and Beyond. Find more information about Marc’s work on the University of Cologne website or download the poster for Marc’s lecture below.
