New team member: Magdaléna Gorčíková

Magdaléna Gorčíková

We are delighted to welcome Magdaléna Gorčíková to our team as a postdoctoral researcher. A doctor in sociology specialising in the Home Literacy Environment, Magda’s work is uniquely positioned to explore how the family unit shapes a child’s world.

In addition to her research background, Magda is a chartered psychologist and practising therapist. This dual perspective allows her to bridge the gap between social structures and individual psychological development.

Our child participants’ reflections often attest to the significant role played by family in how they nurture their factual interests through reading and beyond. Working in tandem with our methods specialist, Martin Nekola, Magda will focus on how parents and children jointly construct meaning around information literacy during everyday interactions.
