Markéta Supa visited Bournemouth University (UK) and the Centre for Seldom Heard Voices

Markéta Supa at University of Bournemouth

Markéta Supa visited Bournemouth University to exchange practices on research with marginalised children and youth with colleagues from the Faculty of Media and Communication and the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences.

Following her participation in the International Child and Family Conference in Bristol, our colleague Markéta Supa visited Bournemouth University within her five-day Erasmus+ Staff Mobility stay. Hosted by the Faculty of Media and Communication, the visit focused on sharing best practices in participatory, creative, and ethical research with children and youth, especially those considered marginalised or seldom heard.

While Markéta brought insights from WONDRE, the Bournemouth team contributed their rich experiences from working with disadvantaged children and youth. To mention one, Markéta met with Stephanie Schwandner-Sievers, one of the Research Centre for Seldom Heard Voices’ Co-Directors. They discussed the value of arts-based research with marginalised children and youth and its potential to impact social change. Stephanie is currently building on this idea to develop a theoretical framework for both research and practice with children and youth often labelled ‘vulnerable’ or ‘at risk’.
