Markéta Supa presented at the International Child and Family Conference in Bristol, UK

Markéta Supa presented research on children’s nonfiction engagement at the International Child and Family Conference at the University of Bristol.
In mid June, our colleague Markéta Supa took part in the inaugural International Child and Family Conference, held at the University of Bristol, UK. This three-day event brought together researchers from around the world to explore how recent societal transformations are impacting childhoods and family life globally.
Markéta shared research co-authored with our PI Anežka Kuzmičová, a participatory study with children in Czechia aged 9-11. Her paper, The Value of Children’s Nonfiction Engagement: Challenging Biases, examined how children’s experiences with nonfiction texts extend far beyond acquiring knowledge.
The paper was part of a panel that Markéta convened on children’s holistic experiences of texts and technologies, which also featured China- and UK-based research by international colleagues in addition to our own.
