Anežka Kuzmičová

Anežka is WONDRE’s principal investigator. A winner of the Neuron Prize for Promising Scientists (2022), she has previously led a cross-faculty team (2020-2024) with WONDRE member Markéta Supa as key collaborator. Prior to that she completed a Ph.D. (2008–2013) and an extended postdoctoral period (2013–2019) at Stockholm University, Sweden. Since her Ph.D. studies she works across humanities and social science disciplines forging new, socially inclusive perspectives on reading as embodied and imaginative experience.

Markéta Supa

Markéta has worked with WONDRE PI Anežka Kuzmičová since 2020. She has led research projects on children and media, e.g., Multicultural Life and Education of Child Prosumers (2018–2021) and The Role of Online Media in Constructing, Negotiating, and Practising Children’s Active Citizenship (2021–2024). Prior to working at Charles University (2015–), she completed a PhD (2011–2015) at Bournemouth University, UK. She specialises in child-centred and holistic approaches to research and practice.

Sarah Caré

Sarah is a postdoctoral researcher who joined WONDRE upon completing her Ph.D. studies at the University of Jaén, Spain (2021–2024). Her Ph.D. thesis focused on motherhood in contemporary British children’s literature and she has also published on gender stereotypes and dementia in children’s literature. Within WONDRE she primarily develops new analytical approaches to children’s nonfiction, adopting critical-cultural and childist perspectives.

Terry Klaban

Terry is pursuing a Ph.D. in Media and Communication Studies within WONDRE. He holds a B.A. in Film Studies and Czech Language and Literature (2022) and an M.A. in New Media Studies (2024), both from Charles University. Their Ph.D. project employs qualitative methodologies in the study of the creative and decision making processes in children’s nonfiction publishing.

Karolína Šimková

Karolína holds a research assistant position within WONDRE. She is also pursuing a Ph.D. (2020–) in Media and Communication Studies at Charles University where she completed an M.A. in Journalism (2017–2020). She conducts research into media literacy and media education mainly in the Czech context, focusing on the perspectives of teachers on digital media and its use in the classroom.

Jan Matuška

Jan is WONDRE’s administrative manager and works in a similar role for two other EU-funded projects, GAME-ER (2024–2027) and GAMEINDEX (2025–2030), also hosted by the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University.
